2-3-23   THOUGHTS

For me, today is a good day to return to an old familiar psalm, the 23rd.    Somewhere in my files is an illustration about the leading of sheep.  They are “grass led as much as grass fed.”  A sheep sees  a tuft of grass, and they go and they nibble.  When it’s gone, they look to the next tuft of grass, go to it and begin to nibble.  This process continues, so that where the sheep is, is dependent on where the grass tufts were.  I surely hope that the essence of our existence has not been determined by “the location of the tufts of grass” in our lives!  1Pet 2:24-25  “ and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 25  For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

Ps 23:1-6   The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2  He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3  He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. 6  Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

My Prayer:
Lord God, may we be followers of Your mind and Your way. You have created us, may we allow You to shepherd us into eternity.  We desire to dwell with you forever.  May we accept the rod of your discipline, O God, yes Lord, may we seek your correction so that we can live in the spirit.  Help us to abide in you continually, that we would fear no evil.  Bless us with your preparations, and anoint us with the oil that comes from you.  We praise and thank you for overflowing lives.  Help us to bless you,  from your blessing us.
In the name of our precious Savior,       Amen.
